Feature: I Landed A Kickflip

E365 -- It was totally irrational. I actually made it out for a skate the other day. If you've ever worked in an office for an extended length of time, you'll understand why this small event seems so unusual.

My buddy James and I just pulled over at the skatepark the other day. It was spur-of-the-moment. We had my cheap, donated board in the back of his truck, and pretty soon we were rolling around the adjacent car-park, out of sight of the 16-year-olds who were dominating the mini-ramp. Impromptu rocks.

James used to be a pro, sponsored back in the day by Island Style before he moved to Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa's surf mecca. Now he's 29, and hasn't skated in around 15 years.

"Nobody skates in J-Bay," he moaned, instead of taking up surfing. I guess it's true: there are skaters, and there are surfers.

So, first time on the board in 15 years, and what's the first trick he tries? Ollie Impossible. Dude, it's called an 'impossible'.

He almost got it though, but we both soon got tired of watching him try, and we handed the board over to me. That's when the real impossible happened.

I landed a kickflip.

I have been trying to land a kickflip for seven years now.

I just did it. It was incredible.

If I had a couple cents for every time I've almost got it, but landed on the trucks, or on the side edge, collapsing to the concrete before I knew what was happening, I wouldn't have to steal other people's decks.

Anyway, I was so flabbergasted by the whole affair, that I attached a photo of this incredible event. Email the editor if you wanna mention how incredible I am.
